Bridal Shower Inspiration

One of my very best friends, G, is getting married later this year and I’m so excited to be her matron of honor. I’ve been a bridesmaid in two weddings before, but never thought I’d get to fulfill MOH duties. G has 14 or 15 bridesmaids! We have been friends since we were three years old, so I kind of thought I might get a spot in the line-up; being asked to be MOH was a surprise though – and an honor.

I’ll be hosting her bridal shower at our house this summer, so I’ve been gathering inspiration over the last couple of months. The only direction I’ve been given by G is that she loves color. Not surprisingly, I’m leaning toward a navy and pink color scheme. I have a fair amount of those colors in my house, so I could decorate for the shower and it would look cohesive with the rest of the house.

This tablescape is stunning. The deep blue really sets off the gold flatware.

This photo is from a two-year-old’s birthday party. It kind of puts my kiddo birthday parties to shame. Also, I want to be invited to this place. It’s definitely more extravagant than I’m thinking for the bridal shower but it inspires me to push myself beyond cute tablescapes. I also appreciate the bolder use of color. I am a neutral-loving person so I need strong inspiration photos to guide me out of my comfort zone.

I’m debating incorporating some traditional Indian elements because G is marrying a Hindu man. Their wedding events will span the course of three days to appropriately celebrate in both G’s Catholicism and her fiance’s Hinduism. I need to talk to her about this more because if I do incorporate any Indian design, I want to make sure I do it in a way that is respectful.

The bride has told me that although no one in her family likes shower games, she is ALL ABOUT THEM. I helped plan a bridal shower for my sister-in-law a few years ago and at that time found some really beautifully designed games on Etsy from Joy Pribish Designs.

This shop offers tons of paper items for bridal and baby showers and everything is gorgeous. I wish I had this kind of talent for creating!

As far as food goes, there’s a big old chance I’ll order most of the food from Kroger. We used them for our son’s baptism and first birthday and were totally satisfied with the quality and presentation both times. The cake we serve will be from Nothing Bundt Cakes. Have you tried this place? I am not the biggest cake lover, but I cannot get enough of these. The flavors are excellent and the texture is perfect.

I’ll be honest and admit that I don’t necessarily love the look of a bundt cake but holy heck, the taste more than makes up for the oddity that is the bundt cake.

I’m so excited to host this event for one of my favorite people in the entire world. She has found a wonderful guy and I really hope I’m able to appropriately fete her before her big day. I also really hope we’re able to comfortably sandwich 50 people into my house!
