Thursday Things Vol. 2

Hi friends. I hope you’ve had a great week so far. I’m thankful that we had Monday off work—definitely helps the work week speed along. Here’s a few of my favorite things for this week.

Podcast of the Week

I am an unabashed stan for Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard’s relationship, and because of this, I’m usually willing to check out almost anything with their names attached to it. Dax Shepard now has his own podcast, Armchair Expert. He’s been producing episodes for abut six months now and it’s thoroughly enjoyable. In each episode, you get around 2 hours of conversation between Dax and his guest, usually a celebrity friend, followed by 20-30 minutes of banter with his friend Monica, who serves as his fact-checker. What’s best about this though, is that Dax is really a fantastic host. You don’t feel like you’re listening to an interview, but rather a conversation between a couple of buddies. The conversations always funny and often touch on deeper topics like family, relationships, addiction and more. If you’ve never listened, I suggest starting with his conversations with Kristen Bell, Nick Kroll and his mother, Laura Labo.

Quote of the Week

“Never compare your insides to someone else’s outsides.” – Rob Lowe, from his book Love Life

Instagram of the Week

If you have kids, take a look at @TogatherMoments. Jennifer is a Cincinnati mama who wanted to increase conversations with her kiddos around the dinner table, so she created a super fun and engaging game to do just that. I met her at the Girlboss Events Summer Pop-Up in July and she is the sweetest, kindest person you could ever wish to meet. Her intentions with this game are so pure—she really just wants to foster connections between families. She shares snippets of her everyday life on her Instagram, as well as information about Togather and plenty of sage advice for noticing and appreciating the small moments with your kids.

Dress of the Week

I have the Lush Hailey Crepe Dress in bright red, which isn’t available anymore, but the fall colors are lovely. Some of the reviews suggest sizing down, but I stuck to my normal size medium, as I like it a bit looser. I can wear it with wedges to work or with flat sandals on the weekend. The fabric is thick but not stifling. If you like to show off your figure, this might not be your favorite, but I think it’s still very flattering even with the looser fit. It’s become my go-to for work days when I need an extra confidence boost… or family dinners where I know I’ll be eating a lot of pasta!

Moment of the Week

Last weekend, my husband got his new car. He made a deposit for a Tesla Model 3 back in March of 2016 and has been patiently waiting to order it. He received an email requesting his order months ago but I started having second thoughts. He waited patiently for me to relax about taking on a new expense, and also created the most detailed spreadsheets I’ve ever seen showing exactly how this fits into our family’s budget. We picked it up Saturday morning and he was so happy. His joy was contagious and now I’m very much looking forward to family trips (within a reasonable distance because anything too far requires a whole Jeep full of kid junk) in this little car.
